"Diversität leben - eigentlich ist das für uns alle Alltag. Aber diese Diversität wollen und müssen wir auch im Arbeitsleben noch konsequenter abbilden. Davon profitieren wir, Diversität ist heute Grundvoraussetzung für Erfolg!" Das Statement kommt von Herzen. Sehen Sie selbst!
“Creating value for research and safety into the future.” We chose this guiding principle to carry the RWTÜV Group into a future of continued success. So it seemed appropriate to take a closer look at the origins of the frequently cited values of the RWTÜV company and its predecessors. You were able follow how many core competences of the original DÜV associations from the Siegerland and Ruhr regions – presented here as short “historical highlights” – could be easily linked to the short portraits of the RWTÜV Group companies, each of which was presented in the second part of the newsletter.
Highlights from the past and for the future
We put together these “highlights” from the past, present and for the future for you on our specially created anniversary website, so that you could and still can browse through them at leisure. You will find them there alongside a collection of selected LinkedIn posts. To mark our 150th anniversary, we posted a total of over 150 articles on this business platform highlighting and commenting on individual aspects of everyday life at RWTÜV, the special expertise of our employees, outstanding projects by RWTÜV companies, or simply news on current events. If you are not following us on LinkedIn yet, we would like to invite you to do so! Along with the newsletter, we will continue our activities there to drive the growth of our “fan community”.
Eco running shirts and anniversary travel case to signal a shared new beginning
With our sustainably produced eco running shirts with the anniversary and individual company logos on the front and back, we sent a dynamic start signal from Essen to the world. In a practical organic cotton sports bag, it has now reached all recipients in our branches and subsidiaries on five continents. It was carried to the more distant corners of the globe by our anniversary travel case, which subsequently came back bursting with humorous, valuable and surprising souvenirs from the regions. We were able to personally present our anniversary gift to most of our German and Dutch colleagues as well as to our crew in Silicon Valley. During our “summer tour” to all Group members, we gained many new impressions, asked and answered questions, took some homework back to Essen, and generally forged closer bonds within the RWTÜV world. We very much hope to have paved the way for further synergies and to have encouraged even greater cooperation in the future. The response from employees to our personal visits was so positive that we will definitely continue this type of exchange.
RWTÜV CAMPUS – a pool for staff ideas
The RWTÜV CAMPUS platform, launched in June, also promotes the exchange of ideas. A steadily growing range of training and further education opportunities is being created there. Serving as a new pool for employee ideas, CAMPUS has been very well received from day one – after just a few days, we had countless submissions with comments, ideas, requests and suggestions. For the first employee innovation prize, we received over 80 – partly excellent – ideas. The winner of the 2022 "Innovation inside" award is Rolf Borchert, Senior Sales Manager at CETECOM in Essen. As a sales employee of many years, he knows the whole industry and left the other idea providers behind with his idea to participate in the project of the Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr (Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport) under the name Campus FreeCity. Not only did he win the "public vote" among all his Group colleagues. Borchert also convinced the jury consisting of all the Group's managing directors, who decided on the basis of five evaluation criteria – innovation idea, feasibility, market potential, brand launch/competition, and strategic fit. The proud winner was honored by the RWTÜV management, Thomas Biedermann and Fabian Fechner, and received a trophy as well as cash and non-cash prizes.
Startup Prize a special highlight
With the acquisition of APRO GmbH, Cesitec, MN Ingenieure, further shares in ENSUN and the stake in critisLAB, we have consistently and organically grown the holding company’s range of services in our anniversary year. A special highlight of our anniversary celebrations in this context was the announcement and awarding of the Startup Prize. We not only honoured a particularly exciting young company – House of Plasma GmbH – and provided a total of 150,000 euros to three winning firms, but also stepped up our networking in the startup scene in North Rhine-Westphalia to keep our finger on the investment pulse. House of Plasma is the developer of a multipole resonance probe, which enables industry-compatible plasma diagnostics with real-time-capable electronics and evaluation. We remain in close contact with the young team of founders as well as with the other entrants and finalists, and we are constantly sounding out the market in order to further strengthen the Group’s Energy & Environment, Telecommunications & IT, and Insurance Services business units as well as the technology scouting arm, which is currently being established and focuses on digitalisation.
Equal opportunities, diversity, sustainability, good working environment
By supporting the eurobits women academy (ewa), which encourages women to enter careers in IT and information security, and by signing the Diversity Charter, we sent out another signal in our anniversary year as to how we want to develop and present ourselves as an employer on the market. Equal opportunities, diversity, sustainability, good working environment – these are not mere empty words to us, we are actively implementing these themes and will continue to pursue this path consistently in 2023. In our anniversary year, we also took our support for management and junior staff to a new level. The RWTÜV foundation is providing more than 200,000 euros in funding for doctoral research by Jolando Kisse at the University of Kassel, titled “Cross-sector simulation and optimisation of multimodal networks using hydrogen as an example”. It is also supporting a project by Philipp Mackensen, PhD student at Ruhr University Bochum, on the topic of “Secured IoT systems in the 5G era”, under the supervision of Dr. Veelasha Moonsamy, Systems Security Chair – HGI. In parallel, we are also continuing to expand further training programmes for managers in the RWTÜV Group via the internal CAMPUS platform. All in all, we are excited about the future and, with “human resources” as our focus topic for 2023, we are actively shaping it!
