Progress through confidence

Dear readers,

At Easter, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we cherish faith, hope and love. This holdiday teaches that in the face of loss, something new unexpectedly emerges. Even now, we are in the midst of times of upheaval; it seems that nothing less than a new era is on the horizon. But we know: Change is the birth of evolution and development.

At RWTÜV, we have the power to actively shape the future. Digital technologies are shaking up our working world, and we are getting involved. Renewable energies are changing supply concepts, and we are participating in the expansion and design of the grid. Living and working spaces need to be rethought? We think ahead. Trade routes and security requirements are changing, we offer new concepts.

But above all: in the RWTÜV Group, we combine a wide range of expertise under one roof. “Teamwork makes the dream work”, “Together we are less alone”, “United we stand, divided we fall”, “No man is an island” ... It's not for nothing that there are countless expressions for the fact that “joining forces” is more successful than “pulling” alone. As an international group, we call this: move AS ONE!

We have plenty of reason to spread confidence in this edition of the newsletter – after all, it is the basis of satisfaction and quality of life. Positive expectations can encourage top performance and even reduce stress! That's why the enormous interest shown in CONSULECTRA's latest symposium is reasons for confidence as well as the entrepreneurial spirit and positive momentum that we experienced at the first Young Professional Summit among promising young professionals from our own ranks. And the curiosity and commitment of the girls who visited IB Nordhorn and cetecom advanced for Girls' Day are also encouraging. Last but not least would like to congratulate a member of the group on her birthday!

In this spirit with confident greetings

Thomas Biedermann und Dr. Fabian Fechner

Network control

With CONSULECTRA's Netzleittechnik symposium on March 25 and 26 at the Grand Elysée Hotel in Hamburg, the RWTÜV subsidiary once again offered a high-calibre, specialist discussion forum for topics relating to grid and system management. It plays a central role in the transformation of the energy system in Germany and worldwide. The new, changed technological world of the energy supply system must be used intelligently; new system components must interact in such a way that security of supply, economic efficiency and feasibility in general are ensured.

The main topics of the symposium were adapted to the field of tension in which grid operators, system suppliers and service providers currently have to operate:

The ability of grid operators to think in terms of cooperation and partnerships is taking on significant importance against the backdrop of the changes described above and the increasing shortage of skilled workers. The digitalization of distribution grids is becoming an indispensable bridging technology on the way to highly automated grid operation. At the same time, an increasingly visible threat situation shows that the intelligent interaction of the new, digital technology world is inconceivable without a new level of IT security.

Birthday

critisLAB, part of the Group via RWTÜV subsidiary CONSULECTRA, celebrated its fifth anniversary. The company, based near Berlin, advises, educates and trains operators of critical infrastructures (KRITIS) on the new level of IT security required above.

Specifically, this involves training in the organization of crisis management, the development of corporate protection concepts, guidance on the implementation of penetration tests or alerting exercises of all kinds, training of crisis team members, or the creation of DIN-compliant documentation and manuals.

The colleagues from the RWTÜV Group headquarters in Essen congratulated them with a certificate and a delicatessen basket: "The content and the know-how that critisLAB can provide to KRITIS companies are invaluable in times of growing cyber threats and geopolitical uncertainties. We are proud to have such an accomplished company in our Group. Congratulations on your 5th birthday, critisLAB!" said RWTÜV Managing Director Dr. Fabian Fechner.

Young Professional Summit

The early identification, development and promotion of ambitious (junior) managers from within our own ranks is the main objective of a new, cross-subsidiary training program within the RWTÜV Group. It is called YPS – Young Professional Summit and is a talent program as part of the intensive personnel development that has been high on the RWTÜV Group's agenda for several years.

During interactive face-to-face sessions in groups of a maximum of 17 participants, the main focus is on imparting knowledge about strategy, innovation, change processes, communication and team dynamics. In combination with practical case studies, what has been learned can be applied directly. Small group work alternates with presentations and plenary discussions; each participant moderates a case study at least once in tandem and then presents the results to the group.

Another key component is the individual feedback from trained observers on group work, presentations and moderation, which serves not only professional but also personal development. Each participant is guaranteed an individual, differentiated and methodical review. This is followed by development discussions with line managers and the responsible HR manager, which result in a jointly agreed career plan.

The fact that the YPS participants are able to build up and expand a valuable internal network within our Group in the spirit of move AS ONE is a deliberate and desirable side effect.

Girls‘Day

On Girls' Day on April 3, 2025, RWTÜV subsidiaries cetecom advanced and IB Nordhorn invited interested girls to spend a day getting to know the day-to-day work of their company.

cetecom advanced offered experiments with biometrics in Saarbrücken: How does facial recognition work, how does fingerprint identification work? At the Essen site, the participants dealt with the topic of EMC - electromagnetic compatibility - using assembled electronics kits. A total of 15 schoolgirls took part in the exciting experiments.

IB Nordhorn in Münster provided information about the world of TGA planning. What is technical building equipment, why is it important and what is it used for? The job profiles and the training path to become a technical system planner in HLS (heating, ventilation, sanitation) were presented as well as how to become an electrical engineering or junior project engineer. This way the girls were given an insight into the different and varied careers of IB Nordhorn employees and discovered that the path to finding one's “vocation” is not always straightforward.

In the practical part, the visitors were allowed to draw their ideal rooms: from a dream kitchen to a dream bedroom. The girls filled their designs with ventilation, connections, light and more and got a feel for how TGA brings a building to life. The participants were enthusiastic: “Now I can really imagine becoming an engineer!” was the response from more than one person.
