Strength lies in constant exchange - yesterday - today – tomorrow

Dear Readers,

The media are once again buzzing about a new “megatrend”: connectivity. What does this mean? Are you wondering? We are too. Because what's new about the appreciation of connectivity, why call it a megatrend?

Clearly, the main focus of the trend analysis is on connection between people and machines. In the digital infrastructure via information and communication technology, the two come together in the Internet of Things. Networked communication technologies are now influencing all areas of life, intervening in our lives, changing the way we interact, our opportunities and having far-reaching, systemic and, above all, economic consequences.

When it comes to connectivity, RWTÜV has been a competent partner for 30 years, not only in Germany but also in Korea, Japan and the USA for everything that transmits and sends. As Group Management, we at the RWTÜV Group want to focus on TWO key aspects with regard to connectivity. Certainly the “technical” side - for example with important steps at cetecom advanced as the designated technical provider for the Next Generation eCall. But also, and above all, the human side, with seminars such as our management training and our AI information event, with festivities such as CONSULECTRA's 50th anniversary or with very simple amenities such as new e-charging stations for employees. Because, loosely interpreted: “Without people, everything is nothing!”, right?

With connecting greetings
Yours
Thomas Biedermann and Fabian Fechner

Festive

On September 13, 2024, CONSULECTRA celebrated its 50th anniversary and summer party with 80 invited guests under the motto “Stay on course”.

During the day, a tour of the Elbe and the port, or alternatively a visit to the Maritime Museum, provided impressive insights into Hamburg's shipping history. Well informed and in a good mood, the guests gathered in the evening for the actual anniversary celebration on or in “Deck 10”, the museum's ballroom.

Speeches by Torsten Brinker, Karl-Heinz Mäver, Prof. Dr. Dr. Fritz Westermann, Dr. Herbert Slomski, Andreas Maiwald, Benjamin Jockschat and Julian Beyer spanned the generations and spanned 50 years of CONSULECTRA to a promising future; greetings from RWTÜV Managing Director Fabian Fechner, who was on site together with Thomas Biedermann, rounded off the program.

A festive dinner buffet was the highlight of the evening, and lively discussions arose from the varied and inspiring impressions of the day and the previous presentations.

Designated

Rohde & Schwarz has successfully passed the re-certification of its EU eCall test solution by cetecom advanced: Since May 2024, a new EU regulation has been in force, which also affects eCall via GSM and UMTS. Rohde & Schwarz has also updated its eCall end-to-end conformance test solution to comply with all new regulations and standards. With this update, manufacturers and suppliers can meet the new requirements and ensure seamless integration of eCall systems in vehicles (IVS).

The re-certification by cetecom advanced confirms that the updated eCall test software from Rohde & Schwarz fulfills the new eCall requirements. As the designated technical service for eCall, cetecom advanced has many years of experience in eCall testing, certification and standardization and will continue to rely on a Rohde & Schwarz All-in-One 4G/5G radio communication tester as a test platform for Next Generation eCall conformance testing.

Both companies agreed to continue their collaboration to jointly develop a standards-compliant test solution for Next Generation eCall using 4G and 5G network infrastructures for laboratory testing.
The joint verification of NG eCall test software will provide customers with a test solution that complies with the latest standards for NG eCall, enabling the industry to introduce Next Generation eCall, which will be mandatory for all vehicle manufacturers supplying the European market from 2026.

Profiled

The next round of further training for managers took place at the Leinsweiler Hof vineyard in the Palatinate region for cross-divisional leadership training. In addition to technical topics, the aim was to strengthen a sense of community and cooperation.

The 15 participants from the RWTÜV subsidiaries cetecom advanced, Enoplan, cesitec, apro.gmbh and IB Nordhorn worked on topics such as strategy processes, innovation management, controlling, values, corporate culture and leadership in times of change under the motto “Entrepreneur in the company”. Individual and group sessions were also held on “Profile Dynamics and Team Dynamics”. The Klar&Quirlig agency again provided support for the theoretical part of the training.

The participants particularly enjoyed the wonderful surroundings of the Palatinate vineyards, which presented themselves from their most beautiful side in the glorious autumn weather. Of course, a wine tasting was not to be missed; in this setting, but also during the morning wake-up walk or evening yoga, team building and exchange could take place wonderfully, Natascha Winter, who supervised the program on the RWTÜV side, summed up.

Trained

Breaking down fears, providing practical application examples, exploring possibilities, adjusting expectations: What can AI really do, how can it support everyday work and, above all, how can everyone benefit in a meaningful way? These were the questions that were answered by Thomas Schmidt and Jutta Schneider from Helliwood media & education at fjs e.V. as part of an information event for all employees on the topic of AI on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in a team meeting. They presented generative AI such as ChatGPT & Copilot and gave an insight into some surprising practical applications in everyday working life.

The RWTÜV management is now hoping for even more exciting ideas for the ongoing innovation challenge on the RWTÜV Campus, which this year is looking for creative and innovative approaches to the topic of AI under the title “NextGen Solutions”.

Installed

Even more sustainability, even more corporate benefits: RWTÜV is upgrading with a further ten e-charging stations from smopi® - Multi Chargepoint Solution GmbH. All employees can now also charge their private cars in the parking garage at the Group headquarters on Kronprinzenstraße in Essen, where previously only two stations were installed for the company fleet. “We are now also able to offer our colleagues electricity for their vehicles,” says Fabian Fechner, Managing Director of RWTÜV, who is delighted with the measure.

The obvious choice was to commission smopi® as an associated company of RWTÜV subsidiary Enoplan GmbH. With its charging ecosystems, the relative industry newcomer offers commercial users an effective improvement in the profitability of their charging stations with installation, operation and maintenance and, above all, standardized billing of charging processes. “The handling and billing is so convincingly simple: we give an unqualified recommendation for this system to all partners and customers!” adds Fechner.
